Ballet Manila holds open house on March 12

The Lisa School of Ballet Manila offers an ideal learning environment for dance.

As a preview of its offerings at its Summer Intensive 2017, the Lisa Macuja School of Ballet Manila will hold an open house on March 12, Sunday.

Visitors will get to tour the facilities and studios at its Pasay headquarters where BM dancers take their daily classes and rehearse for company productions.

Ballet or dance students who have not enrolled or taken a class yet with the school may take sample classes during the open house.

A wide range of classes is being offered for the school’s forthcoming summer intensive workshop which runs from April 3 to May 28. These include movement class for toddlers, ballet classes for all ages, adult fitness programs and classes in hiphop and jazz.

Classes will be offered both in Pasay (1915 Donada St.) and at Ballet Manila’s Quezon City branch located in Fisher Mall.

School directress Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, who is also artistic director of Ballet Manila and co-artistic director Osias Barroso lead the faculty roster.

The school’s main draw for ballet is its adherence to the Russian Vaganova System which lays a solid foundation for those who intend to pursue ballet as a career.

For the recital capping its summer workshop, the school makes sure it is a special one for all participants.

“BM is known for recitals that are not your regular concert fare with one group of students coming in one after another. We create full-length ballets that are cohesive and entertaining with a theme or story that makes our recitals unique,” says Macuja-Elizalde.

The students also get the chance to perform onstage with Ballet Manila company members in the professionally staged production.
