Under construction: The seductive Violetta in Lisa Macuja-Elizalde's 'La Traviata'

Set in the glamorous 1800s Paris, Ballet Manila’s La Traviata is an adaptation of Guiseppe Verdi’s opera. The new choreography by BM artistic director Lisa Macuja-Elizalde turns into ballet the tragic story of Violetta - a courtesan torn between love and material comfort.

In this clip, principal dancer Joan Emery Sia takes on the role of Violetta as she uses her charms on Alfredo (principal dancer Romeo Peralta) and Baron Duophol (soloist Joshua Enciso).

The piece is part of Ballet Manila’s season-ending production, Carmina Burana & La Traviata (A Double Bill), slated for March 7 (6 p.m.) and 8 (3 p.m.) at the Samsung Hall in SM Aura, Taguig.
