Under construction: Lisa Macuja-Elizalde's 'La Traviata'
Opera and ballet come together in the latest choreography by Ballet Manila artistic director Lisa Macuja-Elizalde. The dramatic La Traviata brings to life the all-too-familiar tale of a woman having to choose between love or material comfort.
The piece will close Ballet Manila’s 24th season, On Pointe, and is presented as a twin bill with Rudy De Dios’ Carmina Burana. Performances are on March 7 (6 p.m.) and March 8 (3 p.m.) at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura in Taguig.
In this clip, principal dancer Joan Emery Sia and Romeo Peralta take on the lead roles of Violetta and Alfredo.
