Ballet Manila Moments: In love with Don Quixote

Ballet Manila Moments: In love with Don Quixote

Since 1995, Ballet Manila has been creating unforgettable performances on stage. As the acclaimed storytellers on toes, they have breathed life to an amazing range of classical and contemporary fare. The Ballet Manila Archives celebrates some of those moments from the company’s first 25 years through this series.

There is an undeniable joy in young love expressed so exuberantly in Don Quixote. The story of the feisty Kitri refusing her father’s choice for a husband and, instead, fighting for her beloved Basilio has resonated with so many couples all over the world. That love wins in the end is a testament to the universality of this most powerful force. Love knows no age!

This clip shows the wedding scene from Ballet Manila’s 2017 production of Don Quixote. Performing the lead roles are principal dancers Gerardo Francisco Jr. as Basilio and Jasmine Pia Dames as Kitri.
