The Ballet & Ballads shows feature a 30-minute excerpt of the company’s epic Rebel production which premiered in 2016, with libretto by Lisa Macuja-Elizalde and choreography by Martin Lawrence.

Rebel is a retelling of the classic Spartacus but with a Filipino twist, bringing to life the events and personalities of the EDSA People Power Revolution of 1986.

In the excerpt, principal artists Katherine Barkman and Rudy De Dios reprise their roles as Cory and Ninoy, along with principal artist Gerardo Francisco and soloist Tiffany Chiang-Janolo as Ferdinand and Imelda. They are supported by a cast dancing as their respective supporters, the Rebels and the Loyalists.

There will also be classical numbers from Swan Lake and Le Corsaire, original choreographic pieces Gomburza by Ernest Mandap and Scarlet by Bam Damian and the ensemble pieces Barkada and Treasure.

Ballet & Ballads has been brought to many parts of the country through the years. It is a unique showcase of song and dance, with its repertoire mixing classical ballet, modern choreography using OPM and familiar pop tunes and numbers rendered by a guest singer.
