Ballet, Bollywood and street dance classes at BM summer workshop

Now marking its 20th year, The Lisa Macuja School of Ballet Manila will hold its 2017 Summer Intensive Workshop from April 3 to May 28.

Classes in classical ballet, modern ballet, Bollywood and street dance are scheduled at its Pasay and Quezon City branches. The school in Pasay is located at 1915 Donada St., while the branch in Quezon City is in Fisher Mall located at the corner of Quezon Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue.

Classical ballet classes are lined up as follows: Creative Movement (3 to 5 years old); Twinkle Toes (5 to six years old); Level 1B – Beginner (6 to 10 years old); Level 1A – Advanced (6 to 10 years old); Level 2B – Intermediate; Level 2A – Advanced; Level 3 (Full Program) and Level 3 (Classical Ballet only).

There will also be classes in Modern Ballet, Street Dance and Bollywood.

In addition, an Adult Summer Program is being offered in the Fisher Mall branch. The program consists of classes in fitness and classical ballet and is open to men and women ages 18 years and above.

Meanwhile, scheduled at the Pasay branch are an Adult Ballet class and a Conditioning Program. The latter combines sessions in Yoga, Mat Pilates and Floor Barre.

The school’s classical ballet faculty is led by Ballet Manila artistic directors Lisa Macuja-Elizalde and Osias Barroso and includes seasoned teachers all trained in the Russian Vaganova method.

There will also be international resident faculty members. Former Joffrey Ballet (Chicago) Victoria Vargas will teach Floor Barre and Adult Ballet/Fitness.

Meanwhile, Deepika Ravindran and Swara Patel – founders of Rhythmus Happy Feet, a popular dance school in Mumbai, India and with whom Ballet Manila has an ongoing partnership – will handle the Bollywood classes.

The Lisa Macuja School of Ballet Manila is a member of the Council for International Dance.

The 2017 Summer Intensive Workshop will culminate in the Just Dance! recital program at Aliw Theater on May 28.
