Ballet Manila names scholars for 2017 Summer Intensive

The Lisa Macuja School of Ballet Manila has announced the scholars for its 2017 Summer Intensive Workshop.

Named as Project Ballet Futures (PBF) full scholars are: Janna Ariguin, Nalla Charmaine Bautista, Hannah Mae Belleza, Robie Cubar, Melanie Dicdican, Nicole Grace Dizon, Elaiza Mae Famorcan, Iris Ferraer, Gian Nathalie Francisco, Joliah Silva, John Stanley Alamer, Pedro Buenvenida III, Germaine Dawal, Juan Angelo De Leon, John Sixto Dones, Angelou Gamayon, Isaiah Rice Paygane and Ian Jace Sunlayan.

The scholarship provides them 100 percent free tuition and participation/ costume fee and entitles them to basic equipment, meal and supplements.

Project Ballet Futures is the scholarship program of Ballet Manila.

Meanwhile, four students were named as iDance full scholars: Elyssabeth Apilado, Monique Valera, John Carl Concepcion and Brian Sevilla.

They are provided 100 percent free tuition and participation/ costume fee plus equipment.

Ballet Manila has been working with iDance Foundation which provides financial aid to disadvantaged young Filipinos who show a talent and passion for dance.

Two PBF full scholars – Christian Torreres and Don Lenard Quinones – also get free tuition, as well as equipment, meals, supplements and travel allowance.

Named as the school’s full scholars are Fiona Belle Delos Santos, Gaile Jarlega, Ashley Salonga, Angela Tuazon, Josh David Andes, Rafael Perez and Emmerson Evangelio, while half scholars are Precious Bacolod, Gielyn Camaclang, Maria Angelica Gopez, Josh Daniel Andes, Ian Gabrielle Delos Reyes, Carlos Luna and Anton Luna.

Full scholars and half scholars receive 100 percent or 50 percent free tuition, and, depending on their assessed needs, participation/ costume fee, equipment or travel allowance.

Four girls from Rhythmus Happy Feet, a dance school in Mumbai, India, have been announced as full scholars, receiving 50 percent free tuition. They are: Dhavani Patel, Jiya Bhavsar, Adeti Kunder and Aarshiya Sansare.

The school has also awarded full scholarships to the following students from the Philippine High School for the Arts: Glycel Therese Abatol, Princess Stephanie Balido, Krislynne Buri, Gracious Serene Canlas, Apple Mae Dalute, Ronieth Dayao, Ma. Teresa De Chavez, Iya Desamero, Lancelot Hall, Amelia Danielle Hurtado and Reanne Nicole Tangalin.

The PHSA scholars are entitled to 100 percent free tuition.

Ballet Manila school directress Lisa Macuja-Elizalde has been teaching ballet at PHSA in Makiling, Laguna for the past semester.

Half scholars receiving 50 percent free tuition are: Melvin Dela Cruz, Carl Daniel Doromal, Alisha Jane Enriquez, Beatriz Mae Villanueva and Xabrina Wynne Cabrini.

Named as partial scholars with discounted tuition are: Isabelle Gabriele Bellosilo, Sophia Villamater, Claire De Castro and Janell Mateo.

The 2017 Summer Intensive Program started last April 3 and will culminate in the annual Just Dance! recital to be held on May 28.
