Two for the road: Ballet Manila to close 23rd season with Deux

Tour de Force - Ballet Manila’s 23rd season - comes to a close with its final production entitled Deux. An offering of two choreographies, it will feature the restaging of Les Sylphides and a new work by Martin Lawrance: The Winding Road.

Les Sylphides is a romantic ballet that highlights the strength and grace of the female corps de ballet. Choreographed by Mikhail Fokhaine, to the music of Frederic Chopin, Ballet Manila last performed the piece in 2000 under the helm of Tatiana Udalenkova and People’s Artist of Russia Sergey Vikulov.

The Winding Road, on the other hand, is a contemporary piece that will bring a rock-and-roll flair to Ballet Manila’s diverse repertoire. Inspired by the music of the world’s greatest band, The Beatles, the piece by Martin Lawrance is an exciting addition to the string of choreographies that he has developed for the company since 2014.

Deux goes onstage on March 2 and 9, 2019 at 6 p.m. and March 3 and 10 at 3 p.m. at Aliw Theater, CCP Complex, Pasay City. For tickets, log on to www.ticketworld.com.ph
