Under construction: A contemporary 'Carmina Burana' by Rudy De Dios
With a little over a week to go until its world-premiere, choreographer Rudy De Dios is now at the polishing stage of his first full-length ballet, Carmina Burana. The former principal dancer of Ballet Manila has given the dramatic music of Carl Orff a new interpretation by fusing his classical training with contemporary movements. The result is a fast-paced piece that tells the story of the eternal battle between good and evil.
Carmina Burana, along with Ballet Manila artistic director Lisa Macuja-Elizalde’s La Traviata, will close the company’s 24th season on March 7 (6 p.m.) and March 8 (3 p.m.) at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura in Taguig. Tickets are available at www.smtickets.com.
