‘Ang Munting Anghel’ flies to Star City

This Christmas season, Ballet Manila brings a story of kindness and compassion to Star City.

Ang Munting Anghel, the company’s free-admission show at the theme park for the holidays this year, will be presented starting December 10, and will be seen every Wednesday to Sunday.

Based on Kutitap, another Christmas show previously presented by Ballet Manila, Ang Munting Anghel tells the story of an angel who comes down to earth and disguises as a cripple as he mingles with the community.

The angel witnesses how people gather particularly at Christmas time as they welcome family members coming home from abroad, engage in the traditions such as the simbang gabi, and enjoy the festive season in the company of loved ones.

The story unfolds through dance, set to the music of familiar Christmas songs.

While the essence of Kutitap remains, Ballet Manila co-artistic associate and resident choreographer Gerardo Francisco Jr. has tweaked the choreography to make a fresh take with Ang Munting Anghel.

At the end of the 30-minute show, the cripple transforms back into an angel, having experienced kindness, kinship and joy in his journey.

“It is heartwarming and fun, full of positive vibes, and we hope visitors to Star City who watch it will be touched by Ang Munting Anghel,” said Francisco.
