'Romeo & Juliet' returns to the stage at Arete

After a successful world premiere, Martin Lawrance’s Romeo & Juliet returns to the stage as the initial offering of a special partnership between Ballet Manila and Arete at Ateneo De Manila University. A contemporary interpretation with a twist, this version of Shakespeare’s classic draws heavily from Filipino culture while using ballet techniques and movements.

Romeo & Juliet at Hyundai Hall Arete will have three performances: Sept 16 (Saturday) at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m, and Sept. 17 (Sunday) at 3 p.m. Reprising their roles as Romeo and Juliet are principal dancers Joshua Enciso and Jessica Pearl Dames. In this video are highlights from the world premiere held at Aliw Theater.
