Aug 19 Rebel: Bayan Ko

An airplane lands, a gun is fired, and a martyr falls. The death of Benigno Aquino Jr. awakens a nation that has been in slumber for too long. And with this awakening is a call to action - to fight for freedom and restore democracy at all cost. Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, who portrays Inang Bayan in Martin Lawrance's Rebel, leads the masses to a dance that calls the nation to rise up against tyranny. Inang Bayan's voice, Joanna Ampil, sings the protest anthem, Bayan Ko.

Rebel opens of Aug. 19 at the Aliw Theater.
