Tuloy ang Saya-wan marked a successful collaboration between Ballet Manila and Academy One to raise funds for ballet scholarships, through the former’s Project Ballet Futures and the latter’s partnership with Tuloy Foundation.

The concert last July 21 at Star Theater featured successful beneficiaries of the scholarships including Ballet Manila soloist Rissa May Camaclang and company artists Jessa Balote and Jamil Montibon for PBF, and incoming Leipzig Opera Ballet artist John Edmar Sumera and incoming Ballet Preljocaj artist Benedict Sabularse for Tuloy Foundation. Ballet Manila company artist Rodney Catubay also took the stage with fellow Tuloy Foundation beneficiary Celine Astrologo who is now a BM2 artist. They performed Pas D'Esclave pas de deux from Le Corsaire.

Tuloy ang Saya-wan also featured the Philippine premiere of Paloma Muerta and the world premiere of Homecoming, both choreographed by Marcelino Libao of Hamburg Ballet. Paloma Muerta featured Ballet Manila principal dancers Joan Emery Sia and Mark Sumaylo, soloist Nicole Barroso, and company artists Brian Sevilla and Rafael Perez while Libao himself Libao himself danced Homecoming.

Another much-awaited number was the number of former Ballet Manila principal artist Katherine Barkman (now of the Washington Ballet) with BM principal dancer Elpidio Magat. They performed Grand Pas Classique, Barkman’s signature piece that won for her the silver medal in both the USA International Ballet Competition and the Varna International Ballet Competition in 2018.
