'Sayaw Pinoy' at Star City

As the Philippines commemorates its 125th Independence Day, Ballet Manila — through its Star City performance — joins the nation in celebrating a colorful history through dance.

Ongoing from Thursday to Sunday at 6 p.m. is Sayaw Pinoy, a 30-minute show that joyfully honors Filipino values and culture. It features original Filipino ballet set to original Filipino music. A showcase of much-loved choreographies from BM’s contemporary repertoire such as Sana Maulit Muli and Magandang Gabi, the production is led by the company’s principal artists Abigail Oliveiro, Jasmine Pia Dames, Jessica Pearl Dames, Shaira Comeros, Romeo Peralta, Mark Sumaylo and Joshua Enciso. At the helm of the staging is BM co-artistic associate and resident choreographer Gerardo Francisco Jr.

In this clip are excerpts of Sayaw Pinoy – a tribute to a vibrant culture stemming from over a hundred years of independence.
